Carla joined Sweet Adelines in 1994, as the 50th member of Southern Showcase. We combined voices with Song Of St Johns shortly thereafter, and became Southern Celebration. Then, on to Jacksonville Harmony and after several years, finally found her permanent home with Bridges Of Harmony Chorus.
She's kept pretty busy during this pandemic doing a few projects that she has been putting off. Time is the silver lining with all that’s going on and she has had time to crochet blankets, booties and a bonnet for her soon to be born great grandson, Rowan. She's also a big genealogy fan, and has traced her family back many generations.
She's looking forward to getting back to singing live with her Sweet Adeline sisters. It can’t be quick enough for me!
Jan has been a Sweet Adeline since 1979 when she saw an ad for a chorus guest night in a local neighborhood newspaper in Philadelphia. She went to rehearsal and never turned back. It was the best decision she ever made!!!
Jan even met her husband, a Barbershopper who was directing a Sweet Adeline chorus at the time, at a Harmony High camp at the University of Maryland Baltimore campus. Barbershopping is their life. She has met and made so many friends from all around the world.
She has been in many quartets over the years and has competed on the International quartet stage htree times. She taught the art of Barbershop singing to Russian music conservatory students while touring Russia with Escapade quartet.
COVID 19 has kept her from singing with her friends, but she has kept busy by learning new music and making masks (a chorus fundraiser).
She can’t wait to sing with her friends and quartet again!
This will be Dianne's 3rd year in Sweet Adelines and in Bridges of Harmony and she loves it so much! She wanted something that was her own so she looked on Meet-Up and it was a choice between the Autobahn Society or Sweet Adelines! The Bridges of Harmony chorus was having their rehearsal that night, so she went. What sealed the deal was the love she felt and Sarah Bican's overview of the history of Sweet Adelines International and her kindness.
She is a new great grandma as of August 3rd to her son’s youngest daughter named Daisy. She is obsessed with high speed photography and capturing birds in flight and also macro photography featuring a close up of flowers.
What does she look forward to doing after the social distancing is over and it’s once again safe to be together? SINGING! She says she can't tell you how much she really misses it!!
Paula is a long-time member of SAI and is a charter member of the Bridges of Harmony Chorus. She is our Tenor section leader and sings tenor in the Classic Charm quartet.
